Music Studio
Hello and welcome!
My name is Sara Beth, I work with singers at all levels and ages, and I absolutely love doing it. My studio is a place where authenticity of sound and self is cultivated and amplified through learning the art of singing. I believe singing is more than just a potential career path; it is a tool for building confidence in yourself and a great outlet for expression and healing. For this reason, I strive to maintain a safe and encouraging environment for all of my singers. I feel this is necessary for growth and exploration as an artist. Whatever your goals may be with singing, I am here to support those goals as well as be a guide to ensure healthy and sustainable vocal function along the way. I love working on a variety of genres with my students!
I have a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of South Carolina in Music Education as well as a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance from Boston University. I taught voice lessons to youth through the Carolina Opera Experience in Columbia, SC for three summers and worked for Encore Music Academy in Franklin, MA for one year. Staying current in vocal pedagogy is important to me, and I regularly invest my time in professional development. Most recently, I participated in the intensive course Empowered Pedagogy through The Empowered Musician with master teacher Dr. Dana Lynne Varga.
As a performer, I have sung with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in the opera Der Rosenkavalier by Strauss. I won the second place prize in the Powers School of Music Peter Elvins Competition, and I was selected by Marianne Cornetti to be a Cornetti Scholar with Opera Summer Festival of Pittsburgh where I performed with her in concert. I have experience singing both in operatic and musical theater roles such as Madame Armfeldt in Sondheim’s A Little Night Music and Cornelia in Handel’s Giulio Cesare. I was selected to participate in masterclasses with renowned opera singers such as Frederica von Stade and Ben Heppner.
